What is the Walk to End to Lupus Now?

The Lupus Foundation of America’s Walk to End Lupus Now is America’s largest lupus walk program with thousands of walkers in nearly 60 cities across the nation walking to raise money for lupus research, increase awareness of lupus, and rally public support for the estimated 1.5 million Americans who suffer from its brutal impact.

Do I need to register for the Walk?

Yes, all walkers should register to participate in the event. Click here to get started.

Is there a registration fee?

There is not a registration fee this year. However, registered walkers will need to raise or donate $50 to receive the 2022 Walk t-shirt.

How do I get a t-shirt?

Registered walkers will need to raise or donate $50 to receive the 2022 Walk t-shirt. If you register and fundraise or donate $50 by Thur, Sept 15th, your t-shirt will be available for pickup on Walk day. T-shirts for people who register after Thur, Sept 15th, and t-shirts for virtual walkers will be ordered separately and sent after the October 31st Walk fundraising deadline.

How do I pick up other fundraising incentive prizes?

Approximately two months after the Walk, redemption certificates for all incentive prizes ($250+) will be emailed from WalkToEndLupusNow@lupus.org (please add to your address book to ensure you receive it) from our contractor. YOU HAVE TO ACTIVELY CLICK WITHIN THIS EMAIL TO ACCEPT OR 'CLAIM' THE INCENTIVE PRIZE! Once you select your incentive item and click inside that redemption certificate email, it will be shipped to you. The Lupus Foundation of America reserves the right to substitute an incentive item of equal or greater value.
Please remember that incentives earned are tied to the individual fundraisers, not team totals!

How long do I have to collect and turn in donations to qualify for an incentive prize?

Donations will continue to be collected through Monday, October 31st, to qualify for one of our prizes. Incentive items are not cumulative. Fundraisers may select one item at or below the level achieved. Company matching gifts are included in fundraising totals if the fundraiser provides the appropriate matching gift form when turning in the eligible donation by Walk Day, October 8th.

What do I need to do if someone donated but the donation needs to be transferred to a different walker?

If a donation is made to your team but should have been applied to an individual walker or donated to the wrong team member, please email Chanel Barrett at chanel@lupusindiana.org. Please note that all impacted walkers/donors should be copied on the email to ensure that all parties are aware of the change being made to the donation.

Why should I raise money?

By raising funds for the Indiana Walk to End Lupus Now, you are helping us fulfill our vision of a world free of lupus through lupus research, education and advocacy programs to help improve the lives of all people impacted by lupus.

We have set an Indiana Walk Goal of $75,000.00 in 2022 - we need your hard work and willingness to talk about the importance of this fundraising event and the awareness it raises for the 36,000 Hoosiers suffering with lupus to reach this goal in 2022.

Where does the money go?

Funds raised from this year’s Indiana Walk will help:

  • Lead special research initiatives, fund innovative studies, and advocate for increased public and private investment in lupus research to advance the science and medicine of lupus;
  • Translate research findings into useful programs, information, and tools for people with lupus, and ensure health professionals know about new means to diagnose and manage the disease;
  • Conduct outreach efforts to increase public understanding of lupus and share stories of those who suffer from the disease to rally public support to join the fight to end lupus; and,
  • Provide caring support to people with lupus, their families and their caregivers, and help guide them through the complexities of living with lupus.
  • Grow and expand our patient services.
