As many of you know, my daughter Bethany was diagnosed with Lupus the same year baby Jonathon was born. It was both the happiest and scariest months of our lives. Thankfully, she is in remission and has access to fabulous doctors, who we now call friends; who have been with us every step of the way. We realize not everyone is as fortunate and know we are blessed!
Her remission is not without constant medication, even an oral chemo regime, that keeps her as healthy as she can be, while minimizing longterm health risks. It's a fine balance more than 1.5 million people who have Lupus suffer with.
What you may not know, is that my mother also had Lupus and it took her life in 2017. This horrible disease can be cured! Congress recently awarded dollars to go towards research to find a cure. The awareness is building momentum and walks such as this one on May 25th, help not only bring awareness, but also act as community builder and bring those who suffer and their caregivers together.
Please consider donating to the cause and/or joining us on the 25th of May in Corpus Christi as we walk to end Lupus! #TeamBethany
