Thank you for coming to my page. I know the life of my sister and best friend LaVida is a story to be told. LaVida was a remarkable student and steward of the world. Driven to excellence, she continued to rise on the academic fast track in collegiate studies at East Carolina University where she received a Bachelor’s Degree in Athletic Training and Sports Medicine in 2008. She became a dedicated member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated in 2006. LaVida's aspirations toward Athletic Administration continued as she received a Master of Science Degree in 2015 from North Carolina Central University. LaVida had expressed to me that her dream job would be to open her very own fitness center with a Sports Medicine specialty.
The forecast of life changed when she was diagnosed with Lupus in 2005. She educated herself and others about the disease. I remember we participated in our first Lupus Walk in 2013 and it has been a cause close to our hearts ever since. LaVida loved life in general and was appreciative of the small everyday things. She understood the magnitude of the possibilities and critical health scenarios. Quality was everything to her and she traveled the world making great memories with family and friends. However, on March 4th, 2018 LaVida transitioned from her earthly home and left her parents, family and close friends to continue her legacy.
In Honor of LaVida's Memory ...
Imagine a day when doctors can say, “There is a cure for lupus.” Until that day though, there is work to be done. That’s why I’m taking action in the fight against lupus. Join me as I participate in Lupus Foundation of America’s Walk to End Lupus Now™ in Raleigh to raise critical funds for the estimated 1.5 million people living with lupus in the United States.
Will you make a donation to help me reach my personal fundraising goal and support the Foundation's efforts to improve the quality of life for all people affected by lupus? A generous contribution of $25 or $55 can make a definite impact. What’s more, if your employer offers a Matching Gift Program to employees, you may be able to double your contribution with just a little bit of paperwork. Trust me, it’s worth the effort! Every single dollar counts.
Together, we can solve the cruel mystery of lupus. Thank you for your generosity!
