To my family, friends and colleagues,
To all who donated last year, the Eason family thanks you again from the bottom of our hearts. Another year has past and again we are supporting the Walk to End Lupus on Saturday May 18th. Last year our team raised approx. $13000. This could only have happened because of the generous contributions by supporters like you. We hope with your help and kindness, we can do it again.
We were blessed to have visits with our family. Our son Chris travelled with the family from Florida to participate in the 2018 Lupus Golf Tournament in Charlotte. Chris helped load the truck and set up and then played in the tournament. Zoe our oldest granddaughter was the youngest volunteer. She has since taken up golf lessons and loves it. Who knows, maybe she will be playing instead of volunteering in 2019. She just recently went to the Honda Classic and got to meet Ricky Fowler, Sergo Garcia and others.
Our thanks go out to Valmet who sponsored a team and a group from my neighbourhood. We were well represented.
Our daughter Cindy, husband Mike and our two granddaughters Jolie and Neko who live in Providence, RI visited in January. Besides Carol and my sister-in-law having Lupus, the chances of Lupus appearing again in the Eason family are very high. This is the reason that Carol and I do what we can to raise funds. We had a great visit.
This has nothing to do with Lupus but we are so proud of Charley, Cindy the sister in law's son. Charley has always been successful at any sport he played but congrats to Charley on winning the JV Wrestling Championship for his weight class in Rhode Island.
We have been blessed by the support of you all, family and friends. The neighbourhood friends where we live are a constant support.
We welcome anyone to be a part of our Lupus Family Warrior Team at the Walk this year.
Our heart is the foundation. We continue to volunteer as much as possible. Carol was diagnosed in 2013, we have been doing volunteer work ever since and cannot believe I am about to celebrate my second year as a Member of the Board. We do as many Outreach programs we can. The stories we hear and the people we help is why we do it. It is only through your kind donations that we can provide educational material, access to support groups as well as the staff at the foundation.
Imagine a day when doctors can say, “There is a cure for Lupus.” Until that day though, there is work to be done. We hope and pray that our family and yours will never be affected but if it does, it would be nice to know there is a cure. We are also continuing to fundraise for Lupus brothers and sisters to support those that continue to struggle with this disease and in memory of those who have passed.
Will you make a donation to help us reach our personal fundraising goal and support the Foundation's efforts to improve the quality of life for all people affected by lupus? A generous contribution can make a definite impact. What’s more, if your employer offers a Matching Gift Program to employees, you may be able to double your contribution with just a little bit of paperwork. Trust us, it’s worth the effort! Every single dollar counts.
Together, we can solve the cruel mystery of Lupus. We are looking forward to seeing all your names and donations on our donation form. Thank you for your generosity!
Blessings and much Love,
Derek and Carol
