I’m Walking to End Lupus. Join Me?
Friends and Family,
I was diagnosed with Systemic Lupus five years ago. As a mother of five awesome kids and a wife to a military veteran I assumed I was simply tired from day to day activities. Imagine my surprise when I was diagnosed with Lupus. I had no idea what was in store for me and my family. So here I am five years later, facilitating a support group here in El Paso monthly, continuing to work full time, running marathons and taking care of my loving husband and children, which also include a grandaughter now. I will continue to fight for those who cannot and I will bring awareness to this disease, staying positive and finding ways to help others through this journey. I hope I can count on you to help me.
Did you know?
- Lupus is a mysterious and misunderstood autoimmune disease. It strikes without warning, affects each person differently, and has no known causes or cure.
- Lupus symptoms can be severe and highly unpredictable and can damage any organ or tissue, from the skin or joints to the heart or kidneys.
- While lupus can strike anyone at any time, 90% of people living with lupus are women. Women of color are at especially high risk.
- Only one drug has ever been developed and approved by the US Food and Drug Administration specifically to treat the disease.
Together, we can solve the cruel mystery of lupus. Thank you for your generosity!
