At last year's Georgia Lupus Summit, I had the pleasure of listening to a presentation made by Dr. Gary Gilkerson, a nationally-renowned physician and lupus researcher. It was an excellent presentation.
In his presentation, Dr. Gilkerson discussed a challenge he gave to his staff to raise money for lupus research. If a stated goal was met, Dr. Gilkerson agreed to publicly wear a pair of flamboyant purple boots. The goal was met.
In reflecting on how to set up my 2018 Walk Page, I came to the conclusion that if a nationally- renowned physician and researcher could create an embarrassing challenge, I could stand it, as well.
Those of you who know me well know I do not like making a spectacle of myself. Nevertheless, I will do it to raise funds for the Georgia Chapter.
Above you will see a picture of a pair of boots I have purchased for the 2018 Walk. There is no doubt I will look ridiculous in them.
Here is my challenge:
I will make sure those of you who cannot attend the Walk will get your fill of embarrassing photos.
Do not let this one-time opportunity to embarrass me pass you by. Please donate any amount you can to my 2018 Walk Page for lupus.
Thanking you in advance, I remain
