Hydroxychloroquine (Plaquenil) and Chloroquine (Aralen) Shortage |
Hydroxychlorquine (Plaquenil) and chloroquine (Aralen) are being studied as potential treatments for the coronavirus (COVID-19) and trials are underway to determine their safety and effectiveness. Many people with lupus are already unable to fill their prescriptions due to product shortages.
Yesterday the Indiana Board of Pharmacy and the Medical Licensing Board provided guidance to prescribers and pharmacists relating to hydroxychloroquine, chloroquine and azithromycin for prophylactic purposes in response to the COVID-19 outbreak. Read the Joint Statement

LFA Indiana Programming/Events Update

Our office is closed, we are working remotely and are available via email and will check voice mail regularly. (See email addresses at https://www.lupus.org/indiana/about-indiana-chapter.)
Our in-person support group meetings will be suspended through at least the end of May. Our staff is looking at options for providing an alternative platform for support group meetings until we can resume in-person meetings.
Our Volunteer Recognition Luncheon scheduled for April 18th has been postponed. Please stay tuned for updates on the new date.
A Tasteful Affair scheduled for May 15th has been postponed. Stay tuned for any new updates.

Letter Writing Campaign |
We encourage you to share your story in a one-page letter to Senators Todd Young and Mike Braun as well as to your local congressional representative. We want to know your personal experiences as someone who has lupus or as a caregiver. You can share the same letter with all three congressional representatives.
Write your letters and email them to lisa@lupusindiana.org. We need your letters by April 31st. To find your local congressional representative click here.
