Question

Does cold weather affect lupus?

Scroll down for the answer.

Greetings Friend!

We hope you’re staying warm, and we’re certain you’re looking forward to Spring as much as we are! This cold weather has been great, however, for planning a great 2019 for our favorite people!

Shelly, Debbie and I will be visiting all of the Indiana Living with Lupus support groups to meet members and to make each person with lupus a My Intent Bracelet! Read more about this activity in the story below.

We are also planning a Painting and Lupus 101 event in Northwest Indiana at the Crown Point Library.  The date is April 27th from 1:00 - 4:00 pm. We have wanted to re-connect with our NW Indiana folks for a long time, and we’re looking forward to it! We’re working on a location now, but what a fun event to take up north!

The planning committees for our 8th Annual A Tasteful Affair and the 13th Annual Walk to End Lupus Now are well underway and meet monthly to ensure these events surpass last year’s greatness.  Believe me, it takes a village! If you are interested in serving on either one of these committees, please reach out to Shelly or me. We are collecting auction items, baskets, and restaurant gift cards for A Tasteful Affair, as well as bottles of wine for the wine pull. If you have something to donate, please contact our office –and thank you!

With Valentine’s Day today, we’d like to announce our Give a Little Love campaign. On February 14th, we hope you will give a little love to Indiana Chapter by donating just $14 through our website here. Your donation will ensure our ability to continue providing lupus resources, education, and support to the more than 36,000 Hoosiers with lupus.

The LFA Indiana Chapter 2019 timeline is jam-packed with events that we know you will enjoy like the Family Picnic/Walk Kick-off in June and the In the Loop – Healthy Living with Lupus Symposium in October. Be sure to download the timeline so you don’t miss a thing!

Thank you for being a friend,

Sincerely,

Online Support Group Transitioning to Teletalk Phone-In Support Group

Beginning with the Feb 25th meeting, our online support group meeting will be transitioning to a teletalk phone-in meeting. We hope this new platform allows those without regular computer access the ability to now participate in the support group meeting. Additional details will be available on our website at https://www.lupus.org/indiana/support-groups by Sat, Feb 16th

We hope you'll join us at one of our support group meetings. The philosophy of our support groups is to provide a warm and caring environment where people with lupus, their family members, caregivers and loved ones can share their experiences, methods of coping and insights into living with lupus.  LFA support groups help develop the best coping strategies to reduce a stress that often accompanies living with a chronic illness.

Our Chapter staff will be attending all support group meetings in the next few months to make bracelets for attendees. Following is an example of the bracelets we'll be making.

Answer Answer:  Changes in or extreme climates can often have an effect on disease conditions.  In some cases, there are certain types of weather that can be helpful in controlling or improving a condition; other times, climate can impact disorders negatively in terms of symptoms and disease progression.
