A Message from our CEO, Morgan McGill  morgan image.jpg

Friends,

Another year has started and we must first say thank you for a successful 2016 End of Year campaign. I am delighted to report that we beat our 2015 numbers, aided by the generosity of two board members who together put up a $4,000 match to jump-start December gift-giving.  This was our first board match in Lupus Foundation of America, Indiana Chapter’s history.  Results were noteworthy: Our online gifts and checks totaled to over $1900, and with the match applied, that brought in over $3800 to help support our fight to end the suffering and help solve lupus.

In this newsletter, you will learn about the many new events we are working to bring you in 2017.  As of this writing, our Indianapolis Walk to End Lupus Now! registration site is LIVE and walkers should sign up now to be with us on October 7, 2017 at Celebration Plaza in White River State Park to once again march in unison along Canal Walk downtown and raise needed awareness.  Increasing teams, raising team fundraising totals, and growing our corporate sponsorships are our 3 primary focus areas for this year’s Walk. If you would like more information about forming a team, please call our Chapter as we have many checklists, tools, and resources to help you choose your fundraising strategies for 2017

2017 promises the launch of an exciting new event to the northern Indiana corridor – please connect with us if you have volunteer hours to lend, as we are forming a planning committee now and need helpers!  Additionally, save the date for Saturday, December 2nd in Indianapolis – we are pleased to be offering a full-day symposium with topics of interest to lupus patients and caregivers, featuring local and national speakers/experts.  More details will be provided about the December conference, a possible Advocacy Day at the Statehouse this session and Lupus Awareness month festivities in May (one activity we will participate in on May 21st is the Evansville Walking for Dreams community event to raise money for our Chapter!) in upcoming newsletters.  Always check our website – lupusindiana.org – for the most updated calendar listings.  Our website also introduces our newest board member additions – we have 5 new board members joining us this month and you can read more about their commitment and background on our webpage starting next week.

We can’t wait to engage with you in 2017 and hear what you have to tell us about all the potential ways we can assist YOU.  Find out about one of our supporters, Kayla Lockwood, in this issue --- one example of the new ways in which we hope to inspire you to share with us and with each other to find comfort and inspiration as you grapple with this chronic condition. Look for more opportunities in the months ahead. Make it your best year yet!

Sincerely,

Morgan McGill Signature
