November 2022 |
Message From CEO Brian Rothenberger |
Hello, friends. With the holidays rapidly approaching, we have much to be thankful for at LFA Indiana. Thanks to all of you, we had a great Walk to End Lupus Now and raised 85% of our goal! We have a recap below, including our contest winners. We appreciate everyone who was able to join us at Military Park and all of you who walked virtually. We are planning BIG THINGS for next year’s Walk, including a change of season and location. Be on the lookout for more details very soon. November 30th is the application deadline for the Marlene Stepanek Lupus Legacy Scholarship! PLEASE share this information with anyone you know who may be eligible to apply. Our Director of Operations and Programs, Chanel Barrett, has been very busy making connections in the community and working on new programs and services to serve those with lupus. Check out the Upcoming and Recurring Events section below for links to everything that’s going on. Finally, a brief word about our fundraising efforts. I know that we ask for support frequently and understand that this may rub some the wrong way. Truth is, while we do get a fair amount of support through event sponsorships, we rely very heavily on individual and local corporate giving to provide the funding that we need to do what we do. Giving Tuesday (November 29th) kicks off our End of Year Giving Campaign. You’ll be seeing solicitations from us throughout the end of the year and ask that you consider helping us close out 2022 well prepared to hit the ground running in 2023. If you are not able to give, please consider sharing our posts and communications with others in your circle who may be. Thank you very much. As always, if you need information about lupus, have questions or feedback, or would like to start your own fundraiser, please reach out to me at brian@lupusindiana.org or 317.225.4400. Happy Holidays, and thanks for your continuing support! Warm Regards, -Brian |
November 29th is Giving Tuesday - a day to flex those generosity muscles and support your favorite nonprofits or charities. Think of Giving Tuesday like an extension of that moment when everyone around the Thanksgiving table shares what they're grateful for — a day for not only counting blessings, but also passing them on to others in need. We hope you'll consider donating to our Chapter on this annual day of giving. Here are some ways you can get your family, friends, and colleagues involved and elevate awareness of lupus while you help us raise funds:

Thank you to everyone who participated in the Walk to End Lupus Now - whether you joined us at Military Park, walked virtually, sponsored, donated, volunteered or exhibited, WE ARE GRATEFUL! This year's Walk raised $64,490. We had 4 contests this year and winners will receive Amazon gift cards. It was a close race with only $110 dollars separating the top two individual fundraisers and $60 separating the team captains of the two top fundraising teams; but in the end, Crystal Bradley and Crystal's Cruisers eked out wins over Kristy Carter and The Infernal Purple Howlers. Amber Destefano of #AmberStrong was the team captain of the top third-party fundraising team. Frances Pierce was the winning team captain of the team with most registered walkers - Team Highly Favored had 28 team members! We're already looking forward to seeing what these wonderful ladies do at the 2023 Walk!

Just a friendly reminder that you can support our Chapter when doing your holiday gift and grocery shopping by using AmazonSmile and shopping at your local Kroger! AmazonSmile is the same Amazon that you know with the same products, prices, and service. Amazon will donate 0.5% of the price of your eligible AmazonSmile purchases to Lupus Foundation of America, Indiana Chapter whenever you shop on AmazonSmile! Set our Chapter as your AmazonSmile foundation of choice Using the Kroger Community Rewards Program doesn't impact the rewards that you earn individually as a Kroger Plus shopper so there's no extra cost to you!
