Message From CEO Brian Rothenberger |
Hello, friends. Can you believe that the 2022 Walk to End Lupus Now is less than a week away?!?! I’m very excited about seeing you there and thank all of you for your fundraising efforts. Speaking of fundraising, I attended two third-party events over the past couple of weeks and can’t say enough wonderful things about those who organized these and participated in them. Amy Bianchi organized the #AmberStrong Lupus Benefit Ride in Sheridan on Saturday, September 17th, and knocked it out of the park again this year. She and her family and friends raised over $7,000 for the cause! Thank you, Amy, for your commitment, hard work, and hospitality. Dave Kelley held the inaugural Toss for A Cause Cornhole Tournament fundraiser in Camby on Saturday, September 24th, and it was a blast! The weather was beautiful, and everyone enjoyed themselves while raising over $4,000! I enjoyed making some new friends, and Dave showed that he knows how to run a successful event – thanks much. Please take note of the Marlene Stepanek Lupus Legacy Scholarship promoted in this month’s newsletter. Our generous donor, Fred Stepanek, wishes to honor the life and legacy of his late wife by helping a deserving student with the cost of their education. Please share this information with anyone you know who may be connected to such a student. Your support is critical to what we do, and we are grateful to those who work hard to increase awareness about lupus and help fund our operations and activities. If you need information about lupus, have questions, or would like to start your own fundraiser, please reach out to me at brian@lupusindiana.org or 317.225.4400 (and check out the resources in this newsletter). Happy Fall! Warm Regards, -Brian |
We are less than a week away from the 2022 Walk to End Lupus Now! We're so excited to be back in person this year with our first in-person Walk since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic! Supporting health and safety during Walk Day is incredibly important so we've put protocols in place for a health-safe Walk environment. Don't miss this opportunity to get reunited and raise awareness and funds to fight lupus! There's no fee to register this year, and we're looking forward to a fun day reconnecting! DJ Godzillest will be spinning tunes to keep us moving; there will be 2 balloon artists, 2 caricature artists and a walk-around magician; the Indy Blue Crew will be on-site with their Colts Firetruck; and Karen Campbell, anchor/reporter from WTHR, will be leading us in the pre-Walk warm-up! We're 65% of meeting our goal of raising $75,000 this year and we need your help to get all the way there! The funds you raise will go towards programs of research, education and advocacy that will improve the quality of life for all people living with lupus. Whether you choose to join us at Military Park or participate as a virtual walker in your neighborhood or community, your support is vital to the programs and services we provide to those affected by lupus in Indiana.
