Depression, Anxiety and Coping with SLE: When and How To Seek Help Webinar

Date: Friday, September 17, 2021
Time: 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm CDT
Location: Webinar

Description: Depression and anxiety are two of the most common emotions we experience as individuals. The National Institute of Mental Health estimates that approximately 7% of all adults in the U S will experience depression in their lifetime. The number of adults subjected to anxiety is almost three times that of depression. However, studies show that individuals with SLE have even higher numbers of these emotions. Experiencing depression and /or anxiety on a daily, weekly or even monthly basis while also dealing with an autoimmune disease such as Lupus can be daunting for any individual. This talk will focus on recognition of these emotions and the different type of psychological disorders that may be related to depression and anxiety. In addition, the focus will be on identifying and knowing when to seek help and how to choose the best professional assistance that fits your needs.

Presenter: Dr. Sharon Boyd Jackson - a licensed psychologist who has been trained in the field of clinical psychology. She has a doctorate degree from the Derner Institute of Advanced Psychological Studies, Adelphi University, Garden City, New York.
